FAQ

1. How much does therapy cost?
Intakes cost $25.00. For all other appointments, the cost of your weekly therapy session is determined based on a sliding fee scale. At your first appointment, your therapist will ask you a few questions to determine how much you will pay for all future sessions. Our fee structure can be found here.

2. How much does testing cost?
Standard testing sessions are $800.00. This is a comprehensive fee including all testing, report writing, and feedback sessions. Please click here for more information.

3. Where are you located?
The Psychological Services Center office is G-382 Kinard Hall, off of Rebel Drive. Parking is available in the parking lot directly behind Kinard Hall. Campus map>>

4. How do I make an appointment?
Call us at 662-915-7385. Our office manager will be happy to speak with you to set up an appointment.

5. What should I bring with me?
If you are currently taking any medications, please bring a list of what you are taking. Or bring in your medications for your therapist to write down. You may also wish to bring in any prior medical or psychiatric records for your therapist.

6. What do you treat?
We treat a wide range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, grief, eating disorders, behavioral difficulties, and more severe difficulties. We treat adults, children and families and offer individual and group therapy settings. Clinical Services>>

7. Will treatment help?
Therapy has been shown to be effective for a wide range of difficulties. From those people who want to gain insight or manage stress to those experiencing more severe difficulties, there are many people who benefit from seeking psychological help with their concerns to improve their quality of life. In many cases, therapy has been shown to be as effective as medication.

8. How long does it take to get an appointment?
Due to the influx of individuals seeking therapy after COVID-19, we currently have a waitlist. Generally we are able to schedule an initial appointment with a clinician within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your availability. The initial intake appointment can last up to 1.5 hours, with most weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes.

9. Do you offer medication?
As a psychological training clinic, we cannot write prescriptions for medications. We can provide you with numbers for various treatment providers in the area.

10. Who provides the therapy?
As a training center, we want to assure the quality of both the services we provide to you and the education we provide to our graduate student therapists. All therapy is therefore recorded or observed so that proper supervision can be given. You will be required to sign consent form which indicates your acceptance of this policy. If this is not acceptable to you, we will assist you in finding help elsewhere. You will be notified anytime that you are being directly observed.

11. What can I expect from the first appointment?
During your first appointment, or intake, you will meet in person with one of our clinicians. Upon your arrival, you will be asked to complete some paperwork, taking approximately 15 minutes. You will then meet with the clinician. During this part of the intake, the clinician will ask for detailed information about your background as well as the reason(s) why you are coming in to the Psychological Services Center. After gathering information about your concerns and difficulties, the clinician will discuss information on treatment. Treatment may involve continuing therapy at the Psychological Services Center, or may include a referral to another professional who can better meet your needs.

12. What if I am in crisis and need to talk with someone right away?
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your local emergency room. The Psychological Services Center is staffed during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. If the crisis is not life-threatening, please call our main number (662-915-7385) to schedule an appointment.

13. Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance at the Psychological Services Center. However, our sliding fees are structured so that for most people, the amount you pay will be about equal to the copay of many insurance companies.

14. Will I be a Research Subject?
At times, the Psychological Services Center conducts studies for research or teaching purposes. In these cases you will be asked to participate and be provided with information about the study. You will never be included in a study without providing your written consent. Also, not wanting to participate in a research study will have no impact on the treatment that you receive at our clinic.

15. What if I cannot pay for therapy? Can I still receive services?
As a training facility, we will not turn someone away from therapy because they cannot afford to pay. If you are having financial difficulties, please communicate your needs with your therapist or our secretary at the time of your intake.

16. Are you offering telehealth services? 

The PSC recommends in-person services for best practice. However, we continue to offer telehealth services over Zoom (a HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platform) at this time.
